    Daniel Nivern (Director)
    Daniel read Modern Languages at Keble College, Oxford University and obtained a Masters of Science in International Management for China from the University of London (SOAS). He taught at the University of Hebei before working with Exxon Mobil. Daniel co-founded CRCC Asia in 2006 and was involved in successfully setting up education partnerships between UK and Chinese institutions. More recently he has been working with the IFC and sponsored by the World Bank to co-develop a program to assess and evaluate corporate governance in Chinese companies, prior to listing overseas

    Daniel has been profiled in The Guardian (UK) and Sunday Times (UK) for his work with China and was the main role in a documentary on doing business with China for American TV. He is also a UK Government connector, with the role of encouraging entrepreneurship amongst young Brits, he is the Vice President of the Oxford Cambridge Club Beijing and one of the founding members of the UK based China Advisers Network.

    Thomas Kirkwood (Director)
    Tom was born in Thailand in 1967 and educated in Singapore, Pennsylvania and England. He has an MA degree in Oriental Studies (Chinese) from Cambridge University and wrote his Master’s dissertation on “China’s Oil & Gas Development Strategy”. Tom began his career at the emerging Markets Group of Wall Street investment bank, Wasserstein, Perella & Co. In 1991 he moved to China where he established several businesses in oil & gas, property, telecommunications and investment. He is the owner of Kirkwood & Sons LLP, a board member of Sino Geophysical, a shareholder in Yeepay and an adviser on energy matters to KW&Co. Tom is fluent in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and his interests include family time, oil and gas exploration, geophysics, fly-fishing, ice hockey and tennis. Tom and his wife Kate have been involved in co-sponsoring China’s first private charity for the blind (The Bright Angel Fund) and are active supporters of the Peace Corps and Special Olympics in China

    Chen Yu (Senior Consultant)
    Chen Yu obtained her bachelor’s degree in Economics from Tianjin University of Finance & Economics. She began her career as an accountant in Shell China where she undertook professional training and practice in accounting, tax, budgeting and treasury operations. In 1998 she joined one of the biggest construction groups in Germany - Bilfinger Berger AG. As commercial manager she lead their biggest real estate project in Beijing. With the completion of the real estate project Yu moved to a newly established advertising and media WOFE within WPP Group - Batey Red Cell. She lead their transfer from being a representative office and developed a strategy for re-deployment of their finance departments across China. In February 2006 she became a consultant for Deutsche Telecom’ IT company T-Systems China. Yu launched the operation of their first company in China and also completed a merger deal which covered employees and financial integration of T-Systems in China. Before joining CRCC Asia, she worked for an international venture capital fund focused on the Chinese IT industry.  She is a volunteer in her spare time for the Red Cross' Bright Angel Fund and also provides financial aid to teenage girls from poor families to finish their high school education.

    Ying Zhu (Consultant)
    Ying graduated from Xiamen University in China where she received her bachelor’s degree in Economics with a major in Public Finance. As a financial specialist, she is experienced in Tax Planning and Accounting Practices and has practical experience on BVI company operations. She is familiar with China's National Taxation Laws, Audit and Financial Policies and procedures of Company Registration and Annual Inspection for both domestic enterprises and WOFEs in Beijing. Ying has expertise in various industries including Oil & Gas, Automobile and mining sectors. She previously worked for an international venture capital fund, specializing in investment projects with a focus on the Chinese IT industry. Ying is a volunteer in her spare time for the Red Cross'  Bright Angel Fund and was selected as a volunteer in the 2007 Special Olympic Games.

    Mingming Liu (Consultant)
    Mingming obtained a BA in Business Management at University of Wales In Cardiff and gained an MSc in Hospitality and Tourism Management from University of Birmingham. After studying French in Paris, Mingming worked for a British consulting company involved in pensions and employee benefits and worked as the European department manager in a consulting company in Beijing. Mingming has a rich experience of living and working in both Europe and China, and also has strong professional knowledge in the education sector.

    Mary Huntress (Associate)
    Mary grew up in rural Australia and graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Arts in Modern History and Chinese Language, and a Bachelor of Education. She also spent two years studying Chinese at Beijing Normal University and Beijing Language and Culture University as a Chinese Government Scholarship recipient. Mary has worked in primary schools and high schools in both Australia and China and has professional connections with many universities in both countries. She is very interested in China’s role in international development and hopes to undertake studies in this field sometime in the future. When she's not working, Mary likes to play basketball, go surfing (in Australia), read novels, and enjoy Beijing's parks.

    Paul Johansen (Program Coordinator)
    Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature from the University of Wisconsin. He has also studied Chinese at Beijing Normal University, Guilin Normal University and was granted a scholarship to study in Taipei by the Taiwanese government. After working at the American Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, he returned to Beijing where he has been employed in many diverse fields. He is a member of the Beijing Network Club and he has started coordinating new programs for the Migrant Children's Foundation.

    Ryan earned a B.A. in Public Policy & Law at Trinity College in Hartford, CT, where he also played on the varsity baseball team. Throughout his professional and collegiate career, Ryan has remained loyal to his passion for Chinese culture and society. In the classroom Ryan studied and taught sections of Mandarin Chinese for seven years. To combine his love for baseball and interest in Chinese culture in his academic work, Ryan wrote his Senior Thesis on “Baseball’s Global Trend and Emergence in China,” which earned him The Public Policy and Law Book Prize as the most esteemed department work. Ryan was selected as a Fulbright Scholarship finalist and presented his research as a guest lecturer at the 2009 Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) National Convention and has since published his work in select journals and newsletters. After graduating Phi Beta Kappa, Ryan worked as a Legal Assistant at Wiley Rein LLP in Washington, DC. He has also worked for The Heritage Foundation - a Washington, DC-based think tank - in the Asian Studies Center.

    Li Jing (Associate)
    Li Jing graduated from Beijing United College with a degree in Secretarial Administration, whilst also taking classes in journalism. She then went on to receive her Secretarial Certificate from Beijing Higher Education Training Center. Realizing that English is a key component for success, Jing spent one year in a private Native English speaking school, worked freelance as a tour guide, and then as a movie translator for an entertainment company. Prior to joining CRCC Asia, she spent two years as a personal assistant for a foreign businessperson, handling banking, investing, and government affairs. Li Jing has extensive experience in spoken English and working with native as well as non-native English speakers, and also has a strong professional background in administration and accounting.
