Airport Pickup
CRCC Asia staff will welcome you at the airport, provide refreshments and take you directly to your accommodation in either city.
The Welcome Pack
This pack contains all you need to know about the city, where to go for certain services and how to get around. We include:
- A SIM card for your mobile phone with credit already loaded so you can make calls at local rates (US-based interns, please visit our FAQs section for information about unlocking US phones)
- A map of the city
- Information on the best places to visit and how to get there, how to shop and bargain, and where to eat and drink
- A language survival guide
- An emergency card with all the important information you would need in the unlikely event of an emergency
- Business cards

Cultural Training
Daily life in China may be very different to anything you have experienced before, and as with any culture, there are certain things you should be aware of in order to avoid culture shock. Whether you intern in Shanghai or Beijing, our cultural training will introduce you to Chinese ways of life, and help you understand your new surroundings.
Business Etiquette Training
Chinese business is famed for its unique business culture. Building relationships (guanxi) and the concept of ‘saving face’ (mianzi) are crucial to the success of doing business in China. We will provide all the information you will need to successfully navigate the Chinese business environment during your internship.
Practical Advice
Worried about getting the ‘special price for foreigners’? Want to know how to spot fake money and pick up a bargain? A local staff member will give you the low-down on how to get the best deals and avoid tourist traps in China. This practical advice will be invaluable during your day-to-day life as a Beijing or Shanghai intern.
Welcome Banquet
The day after you arrive in China you have a chance to really get to know all the other participants on our programs, along with some of the CRCC Asia staff. At this sumptuous welcome banquet, you will be able to try authentic local food in a traditional Chinese restaurant. The banquet is also a chance to meet the previous month’s participants, who usually like to show the new arrivals what the city has to offer.
