On Saturday, July 8th, interns were invited to take part in CRCC’s Charity Day.
For this event, interns took the short journey into Manchester’s surrounding countryside to join local charities Mahdlo and POINT in raising money for their organizations, both of which are dedicated to helping children and the parents of children with additional needs. Mahdlo provides disenfranchised children a safe and interactive place to spend their time as they learn, play, and interact with locals. POINT, or Parents of Oldham in Touch, is a support network for parents and caregivers of children with additional needs and disabilities.
To raise money for these organizations, some of the interns opted to take part in the Three Peaks Challenge: a 16-mile hike through the stunning landscape of Oldham and surrounding areas, a hike that took us through the countryside and into parks of the Peak District National Park. You can see a map of the hike here.
Some of the interns joined the charity day but opted to remain with the organizing committee during the hike, where they helped to set up the checkpoints and organize the event, and were taken to visit the local Mahdlo and POINT center for a tour.
CRCC Asia interns joined a group of over 120 locals that took part in the event and made friends with many of them. This was a great way for interns to get involved with the local community, while giving back. Thanks to all those who participated!
