The Hainan Study-Work-Travel-Program (SWT) will provide participants with a new and exciting opportunity to experience life in China while combining language study, hospitality internship experience, cultural exchange and travel. Participants will first study Chinese language during an eight-week intensive course at the Hainan Normal University.
Following, participants will engage in a four-month internship at a Five Star Hotel in the city of Sanya, southern Hainan. The hospitality internship will provide participants with the opportunity to deepen their Chinese language knowledge and to gain practical expertise in one of Asia’s and soon to be the world’s most prestigious hospitality resorts.
CRCC Asia was recently featured on the China Travel Trends website discussing the advantages of the British Hospitality Industry preparing for China’s impending arrival. The program was also featured in the Tasmanian Times discussing the need for Australia’s hospitality industry to be “China ready” for the influx of Chinese tourists.
A three-day excursion around Hainan Island will complete the program and provide participants with further insight and understanding of Chinese culture, landscape as well as Hainan’s friendly community.
Studying Chinese at Hainan Normal University
Established in 1949, Hainan Normal University (HNU) is located in Haikou in the north of Hainan Island. HNU is anaward winning and interdisciplinary university, which specialises in the educating and training future teachers.
Language classes are scheduled for five hours each day over an eight week period, ensuring 200 hours of intensive Mandarin Chinese lessons. Participants will be provided with teaching materials and a final exam will be held at the end of the language course culminating in an award ceremony.
Accommodation throughout the language program will be provided at HNU’s students dormitory and either shared or single rooms are available.
Interning at a 5 Star Hotel
To succeed in the hospitality industry relevant work experience is a necessity and the brand on your CV is very important. The Hainan SWT Program offers participants a guaranteed internship within a recognised hotel chain and in one of Hainan’s most famous resorts.
Interns will rotate between the hotels various departments offering a diverse yet complete hospitality internship experience.
Throughout the four months Interns will work five days per week/eight hours per day and accommodation within the hotel as well as three meals per day will be provided free of charge.
In addition, interns will be reimbursed between 800 – 1000RMB per month in order to compensate basic expenses. Furthermore, should participants wish to extend their internship experience to six months then such additions can be accommodated.
