I found out about the CRCC Asia Internship Program through an email I received via my university’s careers department. Usually I’d scroll through or delete these emails, however upon further reading I realised that this was an opportunity not to be missed – working and living in China! Understanding that in an increasingly competitive graduate job market it is important to stand out from the crowd I knew that this would provide me with the chance to do just that.

The CRCC Asia internship in Shenzhen has definitely been the most valued thing I have taken part in. One of the main advantages of the internship is that it makes me stand out from the crowd when applying for jobs – for most employers it is the most intriguing part of my CV. It has provided me with a great professional and social experience unrivalled by any other programme and I would recommend it to anyone.

I work for a financial services company in Shenzhen. We help foreign investors set up businesses in the city. The main services offered are incorporation and set up, government registrations and tax compliance, banking and cashier services, accounting and administration services.

The food! It’s so cheap and yummy. Highly recommend the bao zi (stuffed steamed buns). Also, the people I have met I am sure will be lifelong friends. The other interns are so friendly and it’s nice to have someone to go out for dinner with in the evenings (more food) and sightseeing at the weekends. I will definitely be coming back to China!

The time that I spent in China has provided me invaluable experiences on a personal and professional level. I came across the CRCC programme when a university lecturer of mine encouraged me to apply for one of the scholarships on offer. I was immediately attracted to the prospect of working and learning in China. I was extremely lucky to win a partial scholarship for this chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to live and work in China has many benefits, specifically gaining work experience that will benefit me in future job prospects.

It is important to come with an open mind and with the right attitude, you will most definitely enjoy your time in China. With its rich culture, fascinating history and very hospitable locals, it is hard not to fall in love with this beautiful country.

Completing an internship in Shenzhen, China on the CRCC Asia program has been the best summer I have ever spent. On my final day of the program I reflected back on my 2 months working for Omate; a wearable technology start-up company, (which previously raised $1m on Kickstarter) and revisited in my mind with a smile, the countless new skills gained coupled with the amazing CRCC Asia interns and Chinese co-workers I can now call close friends.

I promise you will never forget your experience when reflecting back on it at home as I am now; simply because from time to time you will be reminded of it, as the person on the opposite side of the table leans their body inwards with great interest whilst scanning your CV/resume during job interviews.

Living in Shenzhen was the most enjoyable, challenging and fun two months I could possibly have asked for. It was a unique experience, from the workplace to becoming immersed into Chinese culture, and I have definitely gained valuable legal skills from working abroad in a Chinese and International firm. I worked at Dacheng Law Offices, a firm which has recently merged with Dentons, and not only gained an insight into the Chinese legal sphere but also became part of its community.

My internship in Shenzhen, China has given me a new perspective on working and living abroad, and has enabled me to become more acquainted with Chinese business culture.

I truly enjoyed my time living in Shenzhen and would encourage anyone who wants an adventure, and who wants to embrace a culture different from their own, to rise to the challenge and intern abroad.

After studying abroad at Peking University in Beijing last summer, I was eager to return to China and applied to CRCC online. It’s now been two weeks since I left my internship in Shanghai and I’m still missing it so much. It really was one of those unforgettable summers – I gained valuable work experience, life skills, funny anecdotes and new friends across the world.

I’m now entering my third year at University and I’d love to return to work in Shanghai or study for a masters in Chinese. My CRCC internship really whet my appetite for working abroad, and I can’t wait to graduate and start my next adventure! Thanks to the CRCC Team!

Going to Shanghai for an internship through CRCC Asia was one of the best experiences ever. I enjoyed a balanced work and social life and was able to build good networks, both of friends and professionals.

All of this would have been impossible for me to do without the CRCC Asia team and everything they organised, from the airport pick up to the weekly events. It was well worth the investment and I highly recommend the CRCC Asia Internship in Shanghai Programme. Thank you CRCC Asia!
