“I’m from the UK and am in Shanghai for three months doing a Marketing Internship in Shanghai. I decided to come to China because the industry is booming and there are a lot of opportunities here.”

“I work for an events company based in Shanghai organising private events, as a Marketing Intern I am responsible for their online marketing, on-the-ground promotion, and have become quite involved in the overall marketing strategy for the company.”

“My highlight in Shanghai would be the food! The food here is really nice, and I’ve enjoyed learning about all the different cuisines in China and understand the dining etiquette here.”

“Hi I’m Natalie from Brisbane Australia and I’m doing an internship in Beijing. My internship is with a publishing house and I’m responsible for searching for new and upcoming authors to come into the new issue for our company. The book is a yearly edition of how to do business in China and what to do and what not do in China.

It’s not just work that I am here for, I am here to experience Chinese business and culture. And you do squeeze alot into the weekends, I’ve been to the Forbidden City and am about to go to The Great Wall.

Coming to Beijing was quite daunting but CRCC Asia makes the transition to life in Beijing really easy. It’s really reassuring that you’re not actually just here on your own and that you’ve always got someone to talk to.”

“Hi name is Fiona Woodfield, I’m from Wellington, New Zealand where I studied a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand.

I chose to work in the Marketing Sector, I’m an International Marketing Intern at a small handbag design company here in Shanghai. I’ve had a chance to work on a number of interesting projects, I’m involved with the lookbook for Issue 14 working on photoshoots and direction of the issue.

The support provided by CRCC Asia has been amazing, it wouldn’t have been possible to do this without them. Everything that they organise for us has been great, it would have been such a hassle to do on my own.

I’ve really loved living here in Shanghai, I’ve traveled lots of other places in the world and nothing has really come close to the craziness of living in Shanghai. I’m not ready to leave!”

“Ciao a tutti, sono Brian Bentoglio, sto facendo uno stage a Pechino per due mesi con CRCC Asia in Marketing, PR e Pubblicità. In Italia studio Commercio Estero alla Facoltà di Economia e Commercio.”

“Ciao a tutti, sono Adriano Rigano, sto facendo uno stage a Shanghai per tre mesi con CRCC Asia in Marketing, PR e Pubblicità. Negli Stati Uniti ho studiato Business Administration all’University of Suffolk, a Boston.”

“I’m Hew, I’m 23 year old and went to the University of Manchester studying Economics and Politics. I’ve been in Shenzhen for three months now at a finance company.

On a day to day basis generally I would be assigned a company to do financial research, providing information, key facts, corporate strategy and other important details. Each days I would have an hour of training with a colleague in Shanghai who has been giving me a framework on how to analyse companies. It’s been a real learning experience.

If you’re ever in need someone is always there to help, the accommodation has been excellent, I wasn’t expecting it to be that good to be honest. The events have been great, lots of karaoke going on!”

The months approaching my two month summer internship in Shanghai were filled with questions, Is this the right decision? Will I be able to handle it? And worst of all, will I regret it? Even with only one week left, I still find myself stopping and reflecting on the fact that I am currently in China, I am interning with a Russian clothing company, and that I am enjoying the experience more than I ever thought I could. During my time here I have seen, tried and learned more things than I even know at this moment, and I honestly believe it will be years until I can fully process, appreciate, and understand the impact this short two months will have on my life. I also feel it is important to add that nothing is all sunshine and rainbows, China can be an unsettling place. Despite that, those experiences have taught me the most and helped me grow as a person, both in the professional work environment and in my personal relationships. I can’t begin to thank Miami University enough for providing me the opportunity and helping me out along the way, and CRCC Asia for setting up my internship and getting me settled in.
