Beijing Internship Roles and Opportunities
There are several companies out there offering internships in China, but few are able to offer the range of placements we can. Our internships take place in both leading domestic Chinese firms and international corporations, and are offered in almost all sectors. Our most popular internships tend to be in the following sectors:
- Legal
- Finance
- Marketing and PR
- Green technology and environmental services
- Business
- Travel and tourism
- NGO
We actively encourage companies to involve interns in as many areas of the business as possible, and we hope that you will build the following skills during your China internship program:
- Research Skills - most companies will ask you to complete some form of research during your internship, which could draw upon your area of expertise or could be a new topic altogether. You may be exposed to new research methods and sources.
- Communications Skills - You may be working on a project as part of a multinational team and consequently you can expect your communication skills to improve, along with other essential skills such as cultural sensitivity.
- Presentation Skills - You may be asked to present your research, findings or opinions to your supervisor or other senior members of the company. This will both build your confidence and hone your presentation skills.
- Client Exposure - We encourage our partner companies to take interns to business meetings and to allow them to experience contact with clients. This is not guaranteed, but our interns often come home having had this experience.
- Industry-Specific Knowledge - Whatever sector you choose to work in, you will gain industry-specific knowledge and understanding which can significantly improve future employability.
- Exposure to Chinese Business Practice - One of the most beneficial aspects of the internship program is the unique chance to work in a Chinese office and to observe Chinese business culture. This can be very different to the Western approach and an understanding of this environment can be a very useful skill as China becomes an increasingly integral part of the global business community.
